¨ BOARD OF DIRECTOR ELECTION : Today members are asked to vote for Norm Hall or Gene Murtha to fill Director-Elect Cindy Milburn's position. The 3 year term runs Oct. 1, 2008 to Sep. 30, 2011.

¨ DEMOCRAT VIC TO AUCTION GOP CARD : Staunch Democrat Vic Desguin switched parties this year to the GOP so he could vote for all those Republican Candidates, then switched back to Dem. He has his GOP card mounted in a frame and will auction it off as a KFCC fund raiser. This is a ONE OF A KIND and historic event.

¨ NEW MEMBER PARTY SEP. 18 : The club will hold a wine & cheese party here at Benedetto's at 5pm. Joan Greene has been coordinating the event and sent out over 40 invitations based on members suggestions. This will NOT be a regular meeting, just fun and fellowship. Our Kiwanis materials will be available but the purpose is to hob-knob with our members in hopes they'll consider becoming a new member.

¨ ANNUAL INSTALLATION BANQUET : Vice President Larry Taylor set up our annual banquet Sunday, Sep. 21 at St. Andrews South. Cocktails are 6-7pm, dinner at 7pm followed by the installation ceremonies. Signup sheets are out; choice is fish, prime rib or chicken. Active Member and one (1) guest are free; Seniors members and others $25 each. Please contact Joan Greene to make reservations.

¨ K.I. PRESIDENT DON CANDADY VISITS SEP. 20 : Members are invited to meet and greet our International President. It will be at Lakewood Ranch High School at 8:30am. There is NO CHARGE. Please see Joan.

¨ REV. KLOSSNER GOES ON SABATICAL : Last week Pres. Sheryl gave Bill a check for $500 from her Presidents Discretionary Fund. He's going on a church sabbatical next May-August 2009 to Biloxi, then to Europe for church study and vacation. He's been with his church here 20-years.

¨ IRAQ/AFGHAN VETS COMING TODAY : These 21 vets will be coming in today (Sep.11). Bob Naylor has asked for club support at 3pm along their route in from CRMC hospital on E. Marion Ave. to U.S. 41 and bring flags. Saturday at 10am the Marines will be honored at 10am at the Laishley Park new stage, then dinner at the Captain's Table in Fishermen's Village and tour of the Heritage Museum.

¨ WALT EVANS GETS GREETERS & SPEAKERS : Walt says thanks; he's got everyone booked for 2008-09!

¨ ANNUAL INTERCLUB DIABOLICAL LIST : It's down to Rodney Taylor who needs to get 3 other members to make an Interclub and get off the Diabolical List! Fines started June 1 of $1 per week and Rodney now owes $12. We have 22 consecutive years with 100% of members getting their Interclub.

¨ PEANUT DAY RESCHEDULED : Our annual Peanut Day fund raiser has been rescheduled to October.

¨ NEW KIWANIS GOLF SHIRTS: Larry Taylor is still taking orders for a new, lighter weight Kiwanis Orange golf shirts, complete with logo. Total cost is $32. See Larry.

¨ PG Kiwanis KALENDAR:

Sep. 18 : Membership wine & cheese event here at Benedetto's. Look for a prospective new member now!

Sep. 20 : K.I. President Canaday visit, 8:30am. See Joan.

Sep. 21 : Annual Installation Banquet; St. Andrews.

Sep. 30 : End of Kiwanis Fiscal Year!

¨ NEXT PNM LUNCHEON OCT. 7 : Prospective new Members and their sponsor meet at River City Grille at 11:45 a.m. Contact Susan Scribner or Norm Hall.

¨ LAST WEEK : Suellen McElroy of CC Solid Waste Resources talked “trash.” She brought along the new trash container that 67,000 households will get and the new once per week pickup starts Oct.6. Very informative!

¨ TODAY's PROGRAM : Brenda Bala, CC Housing Corporation.

¨ SPEAKERS : Eddie Webb is September Speaker Chair. Sep. 18 , Jerry Olivo, CCSB updates on CHS rebuilding program; Sep. 25 , Ron Struthers update on the new Sunloft Center in downtown PG.

¨ CLUB POLICY ON CANDIDATES : Please feel free to bring a candidate to lunch, but, no politicking in the building. Introduce them by the office they seek, but no comments by the candidate . Literature and petitions must be distributed OUTSIDE the building. No announced candidate will be considered for membership until after the elections. Those in the Nov. 4 General Elections, will be invited to speak Oct. 30 . Kiwanis International forbids politicking at club meetings. Please abide by the Kiwanis International and club policy.

¨ ALUMINUM CANS : Please bring your aluminum cans for The Peace Wildlife Center, bag the cans and put in Ben Scott or Dan Garrett's car.

¨ CELL PHONES : Community Service collects used cell phones and gives to the CC Sheriff's Office. Phones are deprogrammed and can only call 9-1-1. They are given to groups like CARE and distributed to abused women to get help if they need it. Please give your phone & charger; to Roger Enger.

¨ P.G. KIWANIS POSTER : Bill Martin is Chairman of our color poster project, a great gift; $5 each, or framed/signed by artist Ron Bates for $25, or Special Framed Poster “Personalized” by the artist for $50.
