¨ EMILY HENSON PICKS MEMBERS BRAINS : She asked for ideas to make our club better. They were:

1. We need to better market ourselves as a club.

2. Send out Board Minutes shortly after it meets.

3. Make our Speakers more relevant; give more time.

4. We don't have enough hands on workers doing things.

5. Encourage members to move around room.

6. Ways to get to know more about our own members.

7. Get more member to attend planning sessions & Board.

8. Have joint meeting with Rotary as we used to do.

9. Have annual club picnic early but as potluck picnic.

10 Stop fining members with biz logos, encourage to wear.

11. More members means we can do more projects.

12. Publicity Committee needed to get our word out.

13. Get members to get more involved in projects.

¨ FOOD FOR NEEDY : Please bring food items to be donated to the Homeless Coalition. Food shelves are empty so club members are asked to bring items for the next 5 weeks. Community Services is donating $500 or $100 for five weeks to purchase food and donate to five different organizations who desperately need food. Every member is asked to participate or give Joan Greene a check to purchase food.

¨ NEW MEMBER PROJECT COMING : President Sheryl is working on a wine & cheese event here at Benedetto's. Date to be announced. Members are asked to brink along a prospective new member. Details coming.

¨ CITY EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH : Last week, Don Snyder, an electrician in the Facilities Maintenance Division was honored. His supervisor says Don has a positive attitude and is always willing to work. He has helped with Laishley Park events like the Redfish Tourney and received a lot of praise for work he has done in the park. In his spare time Don has a 5th wheel and enjoys camping, NASCAR, golf.

¨ ANNUAL INTERCLUB DIABOLICAL LIST : The following 5 members need an Interclub this fiscal year and have not fulfilled their obligation. They are: Diehl, Hernandez, Levell, Mingle, R.Taylor . Fines started June 1 of $1 per week for every week not getting your Interclub. We have 22 consecutive years with 100% of members getting their Interclub. Please make this our 23rd year and GIT-R-DONE! Contact Chair Margit Sargent for the next Interclub. It takes 4 to make an Interclub; less than 4 is only a makeup.

¨ CLUB DONATES $500 TO BRING WOUNDED VETS TO PUNTA GORDA : The PGCC and Charlotte State Bank have been working to bring wounded Iraqi and Afghani war vets here on Aug. 9, but there has been a delay. A new date will be announced soon. Other cities backed out due to funding. Contact new member Eric DeYoung or Treasurer Bob Naylor for more info.

¨ CLUB DONATES SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO COOPER STREET : Pres. Sheryl announced that a car trunk full of items were delivered last week to be given out at PGPD's National Night Out on Aug. 5.

¨ PG Kiwanis KALENDAR:

Aug. 21: KFCC annual meeting.

Aug. 22-24: Florida District Convention, Jacksonville.

¨ NEXT PNM LUNCHEON SEP. 2 : Prospective new Members and their sponsor meet at River City Grille at 11:45 a.m. Contact Susan Scribner or Norm Hall.

¨ LAST WEEK : Emily Henson held a forum for members to give ideas on what the club needs to do to make it better.

¨ TODAY's PROGRAM : Darie Hamilton of Bread of Life Mission on food needs today for needy.

¨ SPEAKERS : Rodney Taylor is August Speaker Chair: Aug. 14 , Candidates Day; Aug. 21 , KFCC annual meeting/elections; Aug. 28 , TBA. September is Eddie Webb.

¨ CLUB POLICY ON CANDIDATES : Please feel free to bring a candidate to lunch, but, no politicking in the building. Introduce them by the office they seek, but no speeches . Literature and petitions must be distributed OUTSIDE the building. No announced candidate will be considered for membership until after the elections. Candidates in the Aug. 26 Primary will be invited Aug. 14 to a “Candidates Day” program. Those in the Nov. 4 General Elections, will be invited to speak Oct. 30 . Kiwanis International forbids politicking at club meetings. Please abide by the Kiwanis International and club policy.

¨ ALUMINUM CANS : Please bring your aluminum cans for The Peace Wildlife Center, bag the cans and put in Ben Scott or Dan Garrett's car.
