¨ CLUB DONATES $10,549.77 FOR 4th FIREWORKS : Last Monday at Kiwanis Veterans Garden in Laishley Park, several members were on hand to watch the presentation of the check to Main Street Punta Gorda and Smuggler's Enterprises. Pres. Sheryl Flavin presented the rather large check. These were the reserve fireworks funds we received from the public for fireworks donations to our club and the Board voted to clear the account and make the sizeable donation.

¨ ANNUAL INTERCLUB DIABOLICAL LIST : The following 25 members need an Interclub this fiscal year and have not fulfilled their obligation. They are: Anderson, Biehl, Birch, Craig, Diehl, Fersner, Fox, Ginter, Hale, Hernandez, Hoke, Larson, Lazzell, Levell, B.Miller, K.Miller, Mingle, Murtha, Polk, Scribner, Shilladay, Stublen, Sturges, R.Taylor, Wadsworth . Fines started June 1 of $1 per week for every week not getting your Interclub. We have 22 consecutive years with 100% of members getting their Interclub. Please make this our 23rd year and GIT-R-DONE! Contact Chair Margit Sargent for the next Interclub. Remember, it takes 4 members to make an Interclub; less than 4 is only a makeup. Next 2 Interclub's coming by e-mail!

¨ JULY 16 “FUN RAISER” AT VISANI : Our next “Fun Raiser” will be at Visani Dinner Theater & Comedy Club at 8pm with Big Ed Taylor. Club needs to sell 120 tickets at $10 each and the club keeps it all! Tom Hannon is Chairing the event. More details coming.

¨ REMINDER : The Punta Gorda Kiwanis Club will move back to Best Western in downtown Punta Gorda on July 3 . This will be a very special meeting you do NOT want to miss. We urge every member to try your best to invite a potential member to see how we operate. Also, bring your spouse or significant other.

¨ SALLADE WARNS NOT TO GET COMPLACENT : Wayne Sallade spoke to us last week on the timely subject of Hurricane Season. His message was not to get complacent and remember how bad Hurricane Charlie could have been if we had high water problems. (((See Photo in printed KiwaNEWS))

¨ KIWANIS INT'NL CONVENTION IN ORLANDO : Next week , Florida District is hosting 16,000 Kiwanians and their families because the convention is in our state this year. Representing our Club are Pres. Sheryl Flavin, Pres. Elect Joan Greene, Vice-Pres. Larry Taylor, Secretary Bob Carpenter, and Past Pres. Bob Armstrong. The Conventions starts next Wednesday and ends Saturday (June 25-28). JJ Gerow, will run the meeting next week. Next year the ICON is in Nashville.

¨ CLUB POLICY ON CANDIDATES: Please feel free to bring a candidate to lunch, but, no politicking in the building. Introduce them by the office they seek, but no speeches. Literature and petitions must be distributed OUTSIDE the building. No announced candidate will be considered for membership until after the elections. Candidates in the Aug. 26 Primary will be invited Aug. 14 to a “Candidates Day” program. Those in the Nov. 4 General Elections, will be invited to speak Oct. 30 . Kiwanis International forbids politicking at club meetings. Please abide by the Kiwanis International and club policy.

¨ CELL PHONES : Community Service collects used cell phones and gives to the CC Sheriff's Office. Phones are deprogrammed and can only call 9-1-1. They are given to groups like CARE and distributed to abused women to get help if they need it. Please give your phone & charger; to Roger Enger.

¨ P.G. KIWANIS POSTER : Bill Martin is Chairman of our color poster project, a great gift; $5 each, or framed/signed by artist Ron Bates for $25, or Special Framed Poster “Personalized” by the artist for $50. Please see Bill, Joan Greene's Accurate Accounting, Dr. Rick Fox's dentist office, Peace River Wildlife Center, Nolan Insurance, Bobbie Diehl's CC MotorSports Park.

¨ ALUMINUM CANS : Please bring your aluminum cans for The Peace Wildlife Center, bag the cans and put in Ben Scott or Dan Garrett's car.
