¨ ELECTIONS : Last week was our annual elections. Please welcome your those newly elected:

President : Joan Greene

President Elect : JJ Gerow

Vice-President : Larry Taylor

Director, 3-year term , 2008-2011: Dan Garrett, Cindy Milburn, Mike Rooney. Takes office Oct. 1, 2008.

Director, 2-year term , 2007-2010, Eddie Webb; starts May 1, 2008 replacing Robin Lindecamp.

Director, 1-year term , 2006-2009, Beth Shilladay; starts Oct. 1, 2008. Will replace Joan Greene who moves to President.

¨ KIWANIS DAY WITH THE RAYS : Sunday, June 1 at 1:40pm, The Rays play the Chicago White Sox in St. Petersburg. Tickets are $14 and includes the Party Deck ticket along with a food voucher for hot dog, Pepsi and snack. $2 from each ticket supports the Florida District Kiwanis Foundation. All kids get to go on the field after the game and take a lap around the bases. A Rays Baseball Glove will be given away to the first 7,500 kids 14 and under. If anyone wants to get tickets, contact Dan Newhart at 727-825-3293 or e-mail dnewhart@raysbaseball.com for ticket info. Maybe we can caravan to the game if there is enough interest. President Sheryl will ask today.

¨ FLORIDA DISTRICT FOUNDATION : Allen Levin of the Port Charlotte Kiwanis Club, and Div-18S Trustee for the FDF, made a presentation to Vic Desguin with his rocker panel for the number of years as a FDF sustaining member.

¨ ANNUAL BOY SCOUT F.O.S. FUND RAISER: Our annual BSA Friends of Scouting fund raiser started Feb. 7. Members to date have donated or pledged $4,710 towards our $7,800 goal. Please bring your donation to the meeting or mail to my home so we can end the project May 1. Please help if you haven't donated. Thanks.

¨ APRIL 19th BLOCK PARTY : Last Saturday our club participate in by selling tickets and pulling beer for the huge crowds. Emily Henson coordinated the event and will give us a report on how things went in downtown Punta Gorda.

¨ KIWANIS BASEBALL NIGHT : Last Friday night, Pres. Sheryl Flavin, Joan Greene, Larry Taylor, Bob & Kaye Carpenter, participated in Gov. Mark's special program to have Kiwanis presence at youth baseball. Sheryl, Joan, Bob & Kaye relieved workers in the snack bar so they could see their kids play. Larry Taylor was umpire.

¨ PG Kiwanis KALENDAR:

May 17 : Div-18S Prayer Breakfast.

June 1: Kiwanis Day with the Rays, St. Pete, 1:40pm.

June 14 : CLE Training for 2008-09 Presidents & Secretaries.

June 26-28: K.I. Convention in Orlando.

Aug. 22-24: Florida District Convention in Jacksonville.

¨ NEXT PNM LUNCHEON MAY 6 : Prospective new Members and their sponsor meet at River City Grille at 11:45 a.m. We have 3 PNM's who members brought to meetings, they are: Darrin Metz (Diehl); Ed Miller (Hicks), and Randy Spence (Klossner) . Please turn in application ASAP. For Kiwanis to do more community service, we need more members.

¨ ALUMINUM CANS : Please bring your aluminum cans for The Peace River Wildlife Center. Please double-bag the cans and then put in Ben Scott or Dan Garrett's car.

¨ CELL PHONES : Community Service collects used cell phones and gives to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. They are deprogrammed and can only call directly to 9-1-1. They are given to groups like CARE and distributed to abused women to get help if they need it. Please bring your phone and charger; give to Roger Enger.

¨ CLUB POLICY ON CANDIDATES: Please feel free to bring a candidate to lunch, but, no politicking in the building. Introduce your guest by the office they seek, but no speeches. Literature and petitions must be distributed OUTSIDE the building. No announced candidate will be considered for membership until after the election. Candidates in the Aug. 26 Primary will be invited Aug. 14 to a “Candidates Day” program. Those in the Nov. 4 General Elections, will be invited to speak Oct. 30. Kiwanis International forbids politicking at club meetings. Please abide by the Kiwanis International and club policy.
