¨ NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE : The Committee, Sheryl Flavin, Pedro Perez, Joan Greene, Sue Craig and Bob Carpenter are still accepting nominations. The Committee will report April 3 & 10 with nominations from the floor, then vote at the annual Elections/Club Meeting Apr. 17. Directors retiring Sep. 30 are: Bob Naylor, Mike Rooney and Larry Taylor. Still need President (2008-09), JJ Gerow for President Elect (2009-10) and a new Vice President. Also, Robin Lindecamp's is resigning and we need a replacement director now for her 2 years left on her present term. If you would like to be considered for a Director, President or Vice-President position, please contact the Committee ASAP .

¨ ANNUAL BOY SCOUT F.O.S. FUND RAISER: Our annual BSA Friends of Scouting fund raiser started Feb. 7. After our 4th week, members donated or pledged $2,875 towards our $7,800 goal. Pledge cards have been distributed to all members. Please attach a check or cash, or make a pledge and indicate if you want 1 to 4 payments and a start date that the BSA office will send you an invoice. Thanks to all who have donated or pledged so far.

¨ PG Kiwanis KALENDAR:

Mar. 29-Apr. 3 : FLA District cruise to Grand Cayman & Jamaica.

Apr. 5: Kiwanis ONE Baseball Day.

Apr. 19: Block Party beer sales, training TBA.

June 14: CLE Training for 2008-09 Presidents & Secretaries.

June 26-28: K.I. Convention in Orlando.

Aug. 22-24: Florida District Convention in Jacksonville.

¨ KEY CLUB CONVENTION : Our CHS Key Club is sending 3 boys and 3 girls to Orlando Apr. 10-13 .

¨ PNM LUNCHEON APRIL 1 : Prospective new Members and their sponsor meets at River City Grille at 11:30 a.m. We have 3 PNM's who members brought to meetings, they are: Darrin Metz (Diehl); Ed Miller (Hicks), and Randy Spence (Klossner) . Please turn in application ASAP. For Kiwanis to do more community service, we need more members.

¨ ALUMINUM CANS : Please bring your aluminum cans for The Peace River Wildlife Center. Please double-bag the cans and then put in Ben Scott or Dan Garrett's car.

¨ CLUB POLICY ON CANDIDATES: Please feel free to bring a candidate to lunch, but, no politicking in the building. Introduce your guest by the office they seek, but no speeches. Literature and petitions must be distributed OUTSIDE the building. No announced candidate will be considered for membership until after the election. Candidates in the Aug. 26 Primary will be invited Aug. 14 to a “Candidates Day” program. Those in the Nov. 4 General Elections, will be invited to speak Oct. 30. Kiwanis International forbids politicking at club meetings. Please abide by the Kiwanis International and club policy.

¨ P.G. KIWANIS POSTER : Bill Martin is Chairman of our color poster project, a great gift; $5 each, or framed/signed by artist Ron Bates for $25, or Special Framed Poster “Personalized” by the artist for $50. Please see Bill, Joan Greene's Accurate Accounting, Dr. Rick Fox's dentist office, Peace River Wildlife Gift Shop, Nolan Family Insurance, Bobbie Diehl's CC MotorSports Park.

¨ What we are … Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time!”

¨ CELL PHONES : Community Service collects used cell phones and gives to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. They are deprogrammed and can only call directly to 9-1-1. They are given to groups like CARE and distributed to abused women to get help if they need it. Please bring your phone and charger; give to Roger Enger.

¨ AQUI ESTA DR. CLEANUP: Members and Key Club members participated in the cleanup of Aqui Esta on Mar. 15. Thanks to all who participated. Yes, they found another dead possum!
