¨ KIWANIS EDUCATION DAY FEB. 23 : All officers, Directors, Committee Chairs are expected to attend, along with any member, and new members to a special District wide education day. It'll be in North Port, Saturday from 8am-11am. After a couple presentations, there will be 9 round tables with no speakers, just ideas for sharing information for Community Service, Sponsored Youth, Youth Services, YCPO, H&SV, Membership, Treasurers, Secretaries, Officers/Board. Sign up now. Please sign up.

¨ NEED PRESIDENT ELECT REPLACEMENT : Gene Murtha stepped down as President Elect for 2008-09 due to his wife's health and treatment in California. The Board is looking for an immediate replacement . If you would like to get involved in becoming Club President Oct. 1, 2008, please let me or Pres. Sheryl know ASAP. Thanks!

¨ ANNUAL BOY SCOUT F.O.S. FUND RAISER: Our annual BSA Friends of Scouting fund raiser kicked off Feb. 7. After our 2nd week, members have donated or pledged $1,680 towards our $7,800 goal. Pledge cards have been distributed at the meetings, and those not present will be mailed their card. You can attach a check or cash, or make a pledge and indicate if you want 1 to 4 payments and a start date that the BSA office will send you an invoice. Thanks to all who have donated or pledged so far.

¨ PGCC WINE & JAZZ FEST FUND RAISER: This was held last weekend. Pedro will give us an update on how our crowd control/snowfence put up and take down fund raiser went.

¨ HARBOR NISSAN FUND RAISER FEB. 24 : Gary Ginter set this up for our Club. He needs volunteers to give away hotdogs from 11am-5pm for Harbor Nissan's grand opening. Please wear Kiwanis shirts and hats. A donation will be made; See Gary.

¨ KIWANIS KAR SHOW & FAMILY FUN DAY: Our 3rd annual show is Mar. 1 , 10am-3pm off Jones Loop Rd. near Piper Rd. Chair Sam Summers says we'll have antique cars, classic cars, hotrods, sports cars, race cars, go karts, show bikes, antique tractors, swap meet, fire safety demo, CCSO K-9 demo (11am), PGFD Safe House, FHP Sobriety First Team. We have an hourly raffle and a Boy Scout “Camp-In” by scouts demonstrating scout crafts and skills. Vendors include BBQ, hotdogs, ice cream and pretzels. We have a live band, “Armed & Dangerous” as seen on MTV and throughout Florida. We need items for 150 goodie bags. Please asking businesses for items or discount coupons. ¨ PNM LUNCHEON MAR. 4 : Prospective New Members and their sponsor meets at River City Grille at 11:30 a.m. We have 4 PNM's who members brought to meetings, they are: Darrin Metz (Diehl); Ed Miller (Hicks), and Randy Spence (Klossner) . Please turn in application ASAP. For Kiwanis to do more community service, we need more members.

¨ ALUMINUM CANS : Please bring your aluminum cans for The Peace River Wildlife Center. Please double-bag the cans and then put in Ben Scott or Dan Garrett's car.

¨ CLUB POLICY ON CANDIDATES: Please feel free to bring a candidate to lunch, but, no politicking in the building. You can introduce your guest by the office they seek, but no speeches. Literature and petitions must be distributed OUTSIDE the building. No announced candidate will be considered for membership until after the election. Candidates in the Aug. 26 Primary will be invited Aug. 14 to a “Candidates Day” program. Those in the Nov. 4 General Elections, will be invited to speak Oct. 30. Kiwanis International forbids politicking at club meetings. Please abide by the Kiwanis International and club policy.

KIWANIS POSTER : Bill Martin has taking over Ralph Jordan's position of chairing our color posters, a great gift; $5 each, economy framed and signed by artist Ron Bates for $25, or Special Framed Poster “Personalized” by the artist for $50. ¨ CELL PHONES : Community Service collects used cell phones and gives to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. They are deprogrammed and can only call directly to 9-1-1. They are given to groups like CARE and distributed to abused women to get help if they need it. Please bring your phone and charger; give to Roger Enger.
