¨ 2007-08 MEMBERSHIP HANDBOOK OUT TODAY : The new booklet will be distributed at today's meeting. This year we have left out the photo section and bylaws to reduce costs and have 20 instead of pages. There were hundreds of changes and I hope you enjoy the new edition. We are working on an individual handout with photos of all members and a copy of the bylaws. If there are any changes, please let me know.

REMINDER: Thursday, Nov. 22, 8am, we'll have our annual Thanksgiving Day BREAKFAST at the American Legion Post-103. No noon luncheon.

¨ HALLOWEEN IN PUNTA GORDA : Vic Desguin saw to it that all children dressed in costumes last night got a free glo-rope as part of our club tradition. Vic had 1,000 glo-ropes to give away with help from a few members goblins. Report today by Vic!

¨ MEMBERS ON THE MEND LIST : Roger Enger had hip surgery, Brian Birch was back at Fawcett MH and piano player Charlotte Straley is out of Peace River RMC. We wish them a speedy recovery and hope they'll be back soon.

¨ PRES. SHERYL ANNOUNCES COMMITTEE CHAIRS : The Chair/Co-Chairs are: Community Service, Simon Denova/Bill Kopp; Sponsored Youth, JJ Gerow/Lee Swift; YCPO, Joan Greene/TBA; H&SV, Mickey Melton/Debra Scott; Youth Services, Sam Summers/Emily Henson. See the new handbook for which committee you are assigned to and participate.

¨ DONATION TO GARDIAN AD LITEM : YCPO chair Joan Greene presented a $200 check to our speaker, Jewell Eddings of that organization. Volunteers really needed. See Joan for details.

¨ UNUSED MUSICAL INSTRUMENT IN STORAGE ? In our Div-18S we have a project to obtain unused musical instruments and donate to Peace River and East Elementary schools. Band Director for both schools, Julio Guerra, says many students can't afford a $20 rental fee. If you have an instrument, consider donating in the name of Kiwanis. Call Mary Gavalas at 941-662-0099, or let me know.

¨ HOME OF LT. GOVERNOR BANNER PRESENTED : Last week, members got to see the new banner since Joan Greene is our Div-18S Lt. Gov. for 2007-08. Walt Evans gets the honors of hanging another banner on stage.

¨ PNM LUNCHEON TUESDAY Nov. 6 : New PNM and their sponsor are asked to meet at the River City Grille at 11:30 a.m. We have 4 PNM's who members brought to meetings, they are: Darrin Metz (Diehl); Ed Miller (Hicks), and Alli Creek & Chris Zeitler(Carpenter) . Please turn in their application ASAP now. It's very important for us to do more community service, we need more members. Please bring a PNM to Kiwanis.

¨ GOVERNORS VISIT/BANQUET SET : Be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, Jan. 12 for Gov. Mark and Sharon to visit Div-18S. The event will be held at the Boca Royale Golf & Country Club in Englewood.

¨ INTERCLUB : Joan Greene will be going to the Englewood-Cape Haze Kiwanis on Thursday, Nov. 8 as Lt. Gov. If she can get 3 more, we can get an interclub. Please contact Joan. She'll leave at 11:00am. Last Thursday, IC Chair Margit Sargent reported Joan Greene, Bill Kopp, Bob Naylor, Robin Lindecamp and herself attended PC Sunrise for our October IC.

¨ CC CHAMBER CHRISTMAS PARADE : Dec. 1 is the CCCC annual parade. We sell hotdogs and soda, and the location to report lost kids. The event starts at noon from the future City Market Place (Old PG Mall) empty lot. (Thanks to Charley)

¨ FOR LOVE OF KIDS DINNER/GIFTS : Pres. Sheryl says Dec. 17 is the annual event here at the Am. Legion Post-103.

¨ KFCC SCHOLARSHIP NOMINEES : Dr. Joe Maggiore has applications for Kiwanians who are a current member of the Foundation, and would like to have KFCC consider a student for a scholarship. Deadline is Dec. 31st . Please contact Dr. Joe.

¨ LAST WEEK : Jewell Eddings, Guardian ad Litem Program.

¨ TODAY's PROGRAM : Ret. USAF Lt. Col. Bob Wachter on the last B-29 mission over Japan in WWII.

¨ 3rd ANNUAL KIWANIS FAMILY KAR SHOW MAR. 1 : Sam Harris needs volunteers and has a sign up sheet. Gloria Walker needs “goodie bag” items. The Graddy Insurance Agency has offered a cloth bag from Hagerty Insurance. Contact Gloria.

¨ ALUMINUM CANS : Members are asked by Community Service to bring aluminum cans for The Peace River Wildlife Center. Please double-bagged cans and put in Dan Garrett's car.

¨ KIWANIS CRUISE MAR. 29-APR. 3 : Gov. Mark invites Kiwanians to join in a fun-filled Interclub on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas from Ft. Lauderdale to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, then a huge Kiwanis party by the George Town, Grand Cayman Kiwanis Club. There's no Kiwanis business onboard, just fun.
