¨ WELCOME TO KIWANIS FISCAL YEAR 2007-08 : As of Oct. 1, our new fiscal year began. Your new President is Sheryl Flavin. The annual installation banquet is Saturday at the new Isles Yacht Club. Cocktails at 5pm, call to order at 6pm and dinner starts at 6:03pm. Deadline to register for dinner was last Monday. The installation program starts at 7:15pm. Joan Greene is our new Lt. Gov. for Div-18S and will do the retiring and installation. Pres. Sheryl will hold her first official meeting today.

¨ NEW MEMBER : Please welcome our newest member, the 1st for the new fiscal year. Mick Graddy of Grady Insurance (He bought Nolan Allstate). His sponsor is Sam Harris. Mick is from Piggot, Arkansas, is a graduate of Louisiana College, his wife is Renaye. Mick will be sworn in today.

¨ EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH : Don VanGundy of the City Water Distribution System was honored last week. Three City officials attended for the honor by CS.

¨ AL CLARK : Al continues to recover from a fall several weeks ago. The Board approved Al as an “Honorary” member Tuesday night. He'd like visitors at the nursing facility. Contact Frank Mulkey for further information.

¨ CLUB PHOTOGRAPHERS : Our Club Photog, Oscar Dorr, has asked Bethani Schilladay to be his protégé and backup photographer when he can't make it to meetings. This means we'll have two great photogs!

¨ OUTBACK FUND RAISER : On Thursday, Oct. 11 , our meeting will be at Outback in Murdock, not here at the Am. Legion that day. Tickets are $10 for a steak, salad, and potatoes. Joan Greene says all 200 tickets are spoken for. There will be no program, just great fellowship. We raised $2,000 to offset shortages in fundraisers this past year . Tip is requested since cooks/wait staff are not paid to work our luncheon. See Joan Greene for a ticket should someone cancel. No tickets can be sold at the door.

¨ PNM LUNCHEON TUESDAY Nov. 6 : New PNM and their sponsor are asked to meet at the River City Grille at 11:30 a.m. We have 3 PNM's who members brought to meetings, they are: Darrin Metz (Diehl); Ed Miller (Hicks), and Alli Creek (Carpenter) . Please turn in their application ASAP now. It's very important for us to do more community service, we need more members. Please bring a PNM to Kiwanis.

¨ KFCC SCHOLARSHIP NOMINEES : Dr. Joe Maggiore has applications available for Kiwanians who are a current member of the Foundation, and would like to have the KFCC consider a student for a scholarship. Deadline is Dec. 31st. Please contact Dr. Joe for an application.

¨ CC CHAMBER CHRISTMAS PARADE : Dec. 1 is the CCCC annual parade. Our Club sells hotdogs and soda, and is the location to report lost kids. This year the event will step off at noon from the future City Market Place (Old PG Mall) empty lot.

¨ CHRISTMAS CARD LANE : Gene Murtha has flyers for the Christmas Card Lane project in Gilchrist Park Dec. 1 to Jan. 5. Entry “cards” are limited to the first 60 submitted with a check; deadline is Nov. 26th. Our Kiwanis Club is the sole sponsor of the project this year. ¨ FOR LOVE OF KIDS DINNER/GIFTS : Pres. Sheryl says Dec. 17 is the date for the annual event. It will be here at the Am. Legion Post-103.

¨ CLUB PLANNING MEETING : On Oct. 20, the club will have a special meeting from 8am-noon at Tidewell Hospice meeting room. Pres. Elect Gene Murtha offered tol conduct a special strategy meeting to help the club in proceeding on a positive direction. This meeting is open to any member who'd like to contribute.

¨ KIWANIS FAMILY KAR SHOW 2008 : Sam Harris says our 3rd annual is Mar. 1st . Gloria Walker wants to give car entries a “goodie bag.” We need 150 useful items like pens, notepads, pocket calendars, key chains, snack clips, golf tees, pocket knives, Kiwanis peanuts, sticky notes, mini flashlights, or whatever. We'll include marketing material only if you attach a “goodie” to it. The Graddy Insurance Agency has offered to get a cloth bag from Hagerty Insurance. Please bring or call Gloria for pickup.

¨ What we are … Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time!”

¨ ALUMINUM CANS : Members are asked by Community Service to bring aluminum cans for The Peace River Wildlife Center. Please double-bagged cans and put in Dan Garrett's car.

¨ KIWANIS CRUISE MAR. 29-APR. 3 : Gov. Mark Taylor invites Kiwanians to join in a fun-filled Interclub on the Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas from Ft. Lauderdale to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, then a huge Kiwanis party by the George Town, Grand Cayman Kiwanis Club. There will be no Kiwanis business on the ship, just lots of fun.
