¨  KFCC ANNUAL MEETING/ELECTONS: Our program today is about the scholarship foundation our Club started and expanded to the Kiwanis Foundation of Charlotte County. This is also the KFCC elections. Enjoy the program.

¨  MEMBER AL CLARK: On Aug. 6, Al fell in his home and was in CRMC. We’ll get a report today about his condition and whereabouts.

¨  CLUB PANCAKE DAY: Our annual event was held last Saturday here at the American Legion and we had a fair crowd. Treasurer Naylor should give us a report today on how we day. It is very important for members to PLEASE TURN IN YOUR CASH OR TICKETS TODAY to Joan Greene so we can finalize the project. Margit Sargent was chair the Chinese Auction and did a great job. ¨  ANNUAL INSTALLATION BANQUET: Vice President JJ Gerow is chairing the annual Installation Banquet which is set for Sunday, Oct. 7 at the new Isles Yacht Club. Details coming soon!

¨  OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE FUND RAISER: On Oct. 11, our club meeting will be at Outback Steakhouse in Murdock and not here at the American Legion that day. Tickets are $10 for a steak, salad, and potatoes. Joan Greene has tickets for 200 people; no program, just great fellowship. We get 100% of the $10. All you have to do is leave a tip. Members are asked to buy the $10 ticket in advance and you’ll be given an $8 credit on your billing since you won’t be at our regular meeting. Bring as many friends/relatives as you want. Tickets must be sold in advance, not at door.

¨  ALUMINUM CANS: Since Dan Garrett and Ralph Jordan are both away, Ben Scott is doing the job of collecting your aluminum cans and taking them to the Peace River Animal Shelter.

¨  WALT EVANS SAYS SIGN UP NOW!: Walt has the task every year of scheduling 12 members to be monthly Door Greeters. He also needs 12 members to pick a month and then provide Speakers for that month. Sign up now!

¨  CHECK PRESENTATION: Last week Sheryl Flavin presented $500 to the Baker Headstart program from YCPO.

¨  NEW MEMBER BILL CAMERON INDUCTED: Last week, CCSO Chief Bill Cameron was formally inducted into the Club by Mike Rooney. Bob Carpenter is his sponsor. Bill is Carp’s boss!” (See photo)

 

¨  MEMBERSHIP UPDATE: We have taken in 11 new members since Oct. 1, 2006, but have lost 20 for a minus –9 so far this fiscal year. Our PNM’s brought to the meetings are: Mike Graddy & Mary Snyder & Terry Lynn (Harris); Vic George & Darrin Metz (Diehl); Ed Miller (Hicks), Alli Creek (Carpenter). Please turn in their application ASAP for the Sep. 4th Board meeting. It’s very important; for us to do more community service, we need more members. Please bring a PNM to Kiwanis.

¨  TODAY’s PROGRAM: KFCC annual meeting and elections.

¨  KIWANIS FAMILY KAR SHOW 2008: Sam Harris says it will be Mar. 1, 2008. It’ll be our 3rd annual.

¨  ALUMINUM CANS: Members are asked by Community Service to bring aluminum cans for The Peace River Wildlife Center. Please double-bagged cans and put in Dan Garrett’s car.

¨  PUNTA GORDA POSTER: Ralph Jordan is chair and has a great gift idea. You can get one at Nolan Family Insurance, Cayo Costa Dental, SunTrust (318 Tamiami Tr./Emily’s office), Bill Martin State Farm Insurance, Peace River Wildlife Center, C.C. Chamber (Punta Gorda Office), P.G. Chamber, and Accurate Accounting (Joan Greene’s office). Local artist Ron Bates donated his 16x24 color poster artwork to our Club as a fund raiser.
