¨  CLUB PANCAKE DAY SATURDAY: Our annual Pancake Day fundraiser is Saturday here at the American Legion from 8am-1pm. PLEASE TURN IN YOUR CASH OR TICKETS TODAY to Joan Greene so we can order supplies. Margit Sargent is chair the Chinese Auction. We need members to get items from merchants which would include gift certificates. Please contact Margit at mar@tnh.net or call 276-6309 about items to donate. Please sign up today or contact Joan.

¨  ANNUAL INSTALLATION BANQUET: Vice President JJ Gerow is chairing the annual Installation Banquet which is set for Saturday, Oct. 6. He’ll announce the location and date soon.

¨  FAREWELL TO ROSE RAMSEY: Rose is leaving next week for Plano, Texas (near Dallas) to run a new Colonial Bank. She’ll be close to her family and grandkids. She joined our Club in July 2000 and has been very involved in our Community. We’ll certainly miss her but wish her the best on the new job and with family.

¨  OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE FUND RAISER: On Oct. 11, our club meeting will be at Outback Steakhouse in Murdock and not here at the American Legion that day. Tickets are $10 for a steak, salad, potatoes. Joan Greene has ticketsfor 200 people; no program, just great fellowship. We get 100% of the $10. All you have to do is leave a tip. Members are asked to buy the $10 ticket in advance and you’ll be given an $8 credit on your billing since you won’t be at our regular meeting. Bring as many friends/relatives as you want. Tickets must be sold in advance, not at door.

¨  KFCC ANNUAL MEETING/ELECTONS: Next week the program is about the scholarship foundation we started in this club and expanded to a county Kiwanis program. Great program coming; see you next week!

¨  HOLD YOUR CANS!: Since Dan Garrett and Ralph Jordan are both away, please keep your aluminum cans at home since we have no one to take to the Peace River Animal Shelter. Do we have a volunteer?

¨  MEMBERSHIP UPDATE: We have taken in 11 new members since Oct. 1, 2006, but have lost 20 for a minus –9 so far this fiscal year. Our PNM’s brought to the meetings are: Julius Palermo (Rooney); Mike Graddy & Mary Snyder & Terry Lynn (Harris); Vic George & Darrin Metz (Diehl); Ed Miller (Hicks), Alli Creek (Carpenter). Please turn in their application ASAP for the Sep. 4th Board meeting. It’s very important, for us to do more community service, we need more members. Please bring a PNM to Kiwanis next week says Chairwoman Robin Lindecamp (photo).

¨  TWO NEW MEMBERS: Please welcome two new members; Jon Hoke, 28, of Merrill Lynch. His sponsor is Tom Hannon. Also, Bill Cameron, Chief Deputy of the Charlotte Co. Sheriff’s Office whose sponsor is Bob Carpenter.

¨  LAST WEEK: Lynn Theisen, St. Vincent dePaul.

¨  TODAY’s PROGRAM: David Gayler, CCPS Superintendent.
