¨  P.G. KIWANIS 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS CELEBRATION: Our annual Kiwanis 4th of July Celebration was in Gilchrist Park with a $30,000 fireworks display. We should have a report at today’s meeting. Thank to all who made it possible this year.

¨  CLUB PANCAKE DAY SET: Our annual Pancake Day fundraiser has been set for Aug. 11th here at the American Legion from 8am-1pm. Joan will distribute members tickets to sell. We need someone to Chair the Auction. Please mark your calendar and plan to work a few hours. Thanks.

¨  CLUB NEEDS NEW TREASURER: Bob Naylor says he’ll retire as Treasurer on Sep. 30, 2007. He’s held that position for the past 18 years. Please contact President Elect Sheryl Flavin ASAP. Person must have bookkeeping and computer skills. Thanks!

¨  MEMBERSHIP UPDATE: We have taken in 8 new members since Oct. 1, 2006, but 19 have left the club for a minus-11 so far this fiscal year. Our PNM’s brought to the meetings are: Julius Palermo & May Frame-Inman (Rooney); Mike Graddy, Mary Snyder, Terry Lynn (Harris); Vic George (Diehl); Alli Creek (Carpenter). Please turn in their application ASAP for the Aug. 7 Board meeting. It’s very important for us to do more community service, we need more members. Please bring a PNM to Kiwanis next week.

¨  DIABOLICAL LIST: 9 WHO STILL NEED AN INTERCLUB: Craig, F. Desguin, Fox, Klossner, Maggiore, Martin, D. Scott, Swift, Webb. Every member is required to attend one interclub a year starting fiscal Oct. 1. We’ve have 21 years of 100% InterClub. Please get your InterClub done; $1 per week fines started July 1. Contact I/C Chair Margit Sargent.

¨  KIWANIS FAMILY KAR SHOW 2008: Sam Harris says next years show will be Mar. 1, 2008. It’ll be our 3rd annual.

¨  ALUMINUM CANS: Members are asked by Community Service to bring aluminum cans for The Peace River Wildlife Center. Please double-bagged cans and put in Dan Garrett’s car.

¨  PUNTA GORDA POSTER: Ralph Jordan is chair and has a great gift idea. You can get one at Nolan Family Insurance, Cayo Costa Dental, SunTrust (318 Tamiami Tr./Emily’s office), Bill Martin State Farm Insurance, Peace River Wildlife Center, C.C. Chamber (Punta Gorda Office), P.G. Chamber, and Accurate Accounting (Joan Greene’s office). Local artist Ron Bates donated his 16x24 color poster artwork to our Club as a fund raiser.

¨  Last week, the club celebrated club member and photographer Oscar Dorr’s 80th birthday with a rather large carrot cake. In the photo, Oscar looks like his ole’ self after going through some medical issues.
