¨  P.G. KIWANIS 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS CELEBRATION: Treasurer Bob Naylor met with the City DRC last Friday concerning our upcoming fireworks fund raiser. President Pedro has secured a barge for this years fireworks launching in mid-harbor. The City did agree for us to use Gilchrist Park again instead of Laishley Park. If you know of an individual, group or organization that would like to help us in our fireworks donations, please start working on them now. And, we need all the manpower we can get for July 4. Please mark you calendar now to work that day even though it is a holiday. It means a lot for our Kiwanis Club to continue 29 year tradition for the community, all of Charlotte County, not just the city.

¨  PUNTA GORDA CITY EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: Last week Mike Rooney presented the monthly award to Maricela Perdomo. She was hired as a permit clerk in Feb. 2006 and last November, promoted to Code Compliance Officer and has done an excellent job. She has reached level 1 & 2 of the Florida Ass’n of Code Enforcement. She works well with the public and co-workers.

¨  OSCAR DORR: Lorra sent me an e-mail and said Oscar is being watched very closely and they have him sitting up and walking to regain his strength. He may get home this week. Hopefully we’ll get an update today on Oscar.

¨  NEW CLUB LOGO/MEETING SIGN COMING SOON: A few weeks ago I ordered a new Kiwanis logo sign with “Kiwanis Meets Here” sign to go out in front of the American Legion Post-103. Gary Ginter, former sign maker, has taken on the job of building the frame around the sign which can be seen coming both directions on Taylor Road. Thanks Gary!

¨ MAY” MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN ENDS TODAY: Robin Lindecamp, Membership Chair says if you did not contribute your May Investment Dollar the last couple week, please bring it today and drop in the collection basket for your first month investment in our 4-month membership campaign.

¨  MEMBERSHIP UPDATE: We have taken in 8 new members since Oct. 1, 2006, but 16 have left the club for a minus-8 so far this fiscal year. Our latest to resign due to work conflict is Leslie Martin. It is very important for us to do more community service, we need more members. Please bring a PNM to Kiwanis next week.
