 ¨  LAST CALL, NOMINATIONS FROM THE FLOOR TODAY: The Nominations Committee recommended and the Board approved the following for the April 19 elections: Sheryl Flavin, President Designate; Gene Murtha, President Elect; and JJ Gerow, Vice-President. For 3 year 2007-2010 Directors, Lee Swift, Dr. John Moss and Robin Lindecamp. Elections will be Apr. 19 on our Annual Club Meeting/Elections day.

¨  PUNTA GORDA EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: Last Thursday Mike Rooney presented the monthly award to Pamela Garant of the City Finance Department. Her boss David Drury nominated her and attended the presentation.

¨  CLUB PANCAKE DAY CHANGED: Our annual Pancake Day fundraiser was supposed to be Saturday, May 5 here at the American Legion. There was a conflict so we are rescheduling later in the month. I’ll let you know when the date is official. Each member will get 20 tickets to sell. We’ll also need workers that day. Mark your calendar now.

¨  NEED VOLUNTERS TO WASH 7,000 NEW BEER MUGS: We are now required to wash all of the new beer mugs prior to the Block Party, April 21st. The mug wash is Sat., Apr. 14th, 9am-noon at the Punta Gorda Fire Station on Aqui Esta. Please see Pedro to help. Our CHS Key Club is sending 5 to 7 members according to their Faculty Advisor Walt Mikorski.

¨  PUNTA GORDA BLOCK PARTY, NEED VOLUNTEERS: Emily Henson is busy organizing this annual fund raiser for our club. Workers who will sell and pour beer, are required to have some basic training. You can attend our April 19 meeting for an early training at 11:00am to Noon, or Wednesday, Apr. 11, at Peace River Distribution at 6:30pm

¨  DIABOLICAL LIST: 36 WHO STILL NEED AN INTERCLUB: Anderson, Biehl, Birch, Craig, Crispin, Denova, DePalma, F. Desguin, Fersner, Fox, Gilreath, Harris, Klossner, Larson, Lazzell, Maggiore, B.Martin, L.Martin, Melton, A.Miller, K.Miller, Mingle, Murtha, Nolan, Pence, Polk, D. Scott, Scribner, B.Scott, Stublen, Sturges, Swift, L.Taylor, Wadsworth, Walden, Walker, Webb. Every member is required to attend one interclub a year starting fiscal Oct. 1, 2006. We’ve had 21 years straight of 100% InterClub. Please get your InterClub in before the Aug. 1 deadline. See I/C Chair Margit Sargent for the next one.

¨  INTERCLUB THIS MORNING AT P.C. SUNRISE KIWANIS: We had several members attending an Interclub this morning. Susan Scribner and Gene Murtha presented a check to PC Sunrise for $1,060.09 as their share of the Christmas Card Lane project. Speaking of CCL, Gene Murtha said he’d co-chair CCCL this December and is looking for a co-chair with him. If you need information about CCL, talk to Gloria Walker who chaired the project from 1999-2005. CCL Committee members are needed. See Gene if interested.

¨  DIVISION-18S PRAYER BREAKFAST (INTERCLUB): This annual event is Saturday, April 21st, 8am, at the Port Charlotte Elks Club. This is an INTERCLUB. Twelve (12) ordered tickets: Perez, Greene, Carpenter (2), Bolton (2), Kopp (2), Ramsey, DePalma, Stublen and Birch.

¨  DIV-18S WINE BASKET DRAWING: Our Kiwanis Division is trying to raise funds by selling tickets for $5 each. Sheryl Flavin has tickets for $5 each until May 8. If you’d also like to donate a fine bottle of wine for the basket, please let Sheryl know.

¨  FRANK DESGUIN: Member Frank had an operation at Moffett Hospital and we are happy to say he has returned to work and everything went well.

¨  NORTH PORT KIWANIS GOLF TOURNEY: Tee-It-Up for Kids 8th annual Golf Tournament, Sat., May 5, shot-gun scramble 8am, Myakka Pines G&CC, 2250 S. River Rd., Englewood. $60 fee. Call 941-426-5818 for more info. We need a team from our club!

¨  DOOR GREETERS: Steve Fabian is our April greeter. May is Ralph Jordan.

¨  ALUMINUM CANS: Members are asked by Community Service to bring aluminum cans for The Peace River Wildlife Center. Please double-bagged cans and put in Dan Garrett’s car.

¨  2008 KIWANIS FAMILY KAR SHOW: Sam Harris says next years show will be Mar. 1, 2008. It’ll be our 3rd annual.

¨  PNM LIST: Did you bring a PNM to lunch? Chair Robin Lindecamp said the next PNM Education Lunch is Tuesday, May 1st, 11:30 a.m. at River City Grille. Applications are needed for Mark Geach (Ginter) and Julius Palmero (Rooney), Rob Hancock (Naylor), and Ed Miller (Hicks). Charles Lee (Carpenter) has submitted his application.

¨  TODAY’s PROGRAM: John Wright, Pres. of P.G. Chamber will speak on "Life Styles of Punta Gorda" coming May 18 & 19 at the Visual Arts Center.

¨  PUNTA GORDA POSTER: Ralph Jordan is chair and has a great gift idea. You can get one at Nolan Family Insurance, Cayo Costa Dental, SunTrust (318 Tamiami Tr./Emily’s office), Bill Martin State Farm Insurance, Peace River Wildlife Center, C.C. Chamber (Punta Gorda Office), P.G. Chamber, and Accurate Accounting (Joan Greene’s office). Local artist Ron Bates donated his 16x24 color poster artwork to our Club as a fund raiser.

¨  CELL PHONES: Community Service is still collecting used cell phones then given to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. They are deprogrammed and can only call directly to 9-1-1. They are given to groups like CARE and distributed to abused women to get help if the need help. Please bring your phone and charger; give to Roger Enger.
