¨  MEMBERS OFFERED OPTIONS FOR SCOUT DONATIONS: The Board discussed various options for donating to scouting in 2007. February is “Boy Scout Month” and we’ll kick off our annual Friends of Scouting fund raising campaign program on Feb. 1. This is the start of the FOS fund raiser and pledge cards will be issued for members to donate as usual. FOS funds are used to further Boy Scouts in the SW Florida Council and provides for the Boy Scout Camp, pay for executives to coordinate all Boy Scout, Cub Scout and Explorer activity in our area, including the scout office. FOS picks up expenses above what they receive from United Way, scouting fees, fund raisers, and various other activities. Last year members donated $7,800 to the FOS campaign. Some members said they wanted the option to donate funds directly to Charlotte County Boy Scout troops, Cub packs, Explorers, Girl Scouts, Brownies, etc. The board approved creating a special reserve account within our Youth Services Committee. Those funds would be allocated by YS upon request by local scout organizations.
