¨  KIWANIS EDUCATION DAY: Saturday, 8am-10am at PC Elks Club, is a special education day for club Officers, Board and Committee Chairs/Members. Officers are expected to attend, and every Committee needs to be represented. There will be round tables set up for CS, YS, SY, H&SV, YCPO, Secretaries, Treasurers, Officers and Board members. There will be no speeches for the Committees as this is meant to share info and gain ideas to improve each Committee. So far, only YCPO, CS and SY are confirmed. Need to have someone from YS & H&SV.

¨  GOVERNORS ANNUAL DIV-18 VISIT: Governor Phil Yorston will make his official visit Saturday at the PC Elks Club. Cocktails 5:30-7pm, dinner at 7pm. The Club pays for the members $30 ticket. ¨  MEMBERS OFFERED OPTIONS FOR SCOUT DONATIONS: The Board discussed various options for donating to scouting in 2007. February is “Boy Scout Month” and we’ll kick off our annual Friends of Scouting fund raising campaign program on Feb. 1. This is the start of the FOS fund raiser and pledge cards will be issued for members to donate as usual. FOS funds are used to further Boy Scouts in the SW Florida Council and provides for the Boy Scout Camp, pay for executives to coordinate all Boy Scout, Cub Scout and Explorer activity in our area, including the scout office. FOS picks up expenses above what they receive from United Way, scouting fees, fund raisers, and various other activities. Last year members donated $7,800 to the FOS campaign. Some members said they wanted the option to donate funds directly to Charlotte County Boy Scout troops, Cub packs, Explorers, Girl Scouts, Brownies, etc. The board approved creating a special reserve account within our Youth Services Committee. Those funds would be allocated by YS upon request by local scout organizations.

¨  BRAD WALDEN: Member Brad had a hip replaced, that’s why he hasn’t been to a meeting for several weeks. He may try to get back by the end of the month, or in time for the Boy Scout FOS kickoff Feb. 1. Call him at home, 239/458-0098.
